Homes For Sale in Monroe, Connecticut
Monroe, CT is a great place to live! Just ask any of the 20,000+ who already have their lovely homes here. While this was originally designed to be a “bedroom community” for nearby Bridgeport and New York City, it doesn’t mean we have to forgo our own culture. We create our own fun, or borrow that of nearby cities.
Monroe has actually been around since the mid-1600s. It was part of the “White Hills Purchase” and was a part of the territory of Stratford. Monroe houses for sale are available in just about every price range. If you can’t find one here, you can look at houses in Shelton and real estate in Trumbull.
Monroe Public School System educates about 4000 students a year. We have 3 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, one of which is a STEM school, and a high school. We opened one of our schools to Newtown CT after Sandy Hook. We also have several excellent private schools.
Our beautiful city has several outstanding, historic churches, too. The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth now run an historic building that used to be Humphrey Bogart’s old hangout!
We have water sports, hiking, nature trails, and parks here, with plenty of outdoor activity for those who want it. We are close enough to NYC and Stratford that if you can’t find what you want in our fair city, you can go shopping in theirs.
